KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

As requested by someone on Westwood Chat, here is a complete list of all the keyboard shortcuts that can be used while playing Red Alert. Since I created this list I've found out several more hotkeys I'd either forgotten or didn't know about. I'm pretty certain now though that this is the definitive hotkey list for Red Alert. Unless you know different that is...
You'll probably notice the tables aren't lined up exactly, but this makes the page load faster so I think it's OK :-)

A
Ally
In a multiplayer game of more than two players, select an enemy unit and press A. You will now be allies with the selected opponent and your units will not attack units from that side. Note that the other player must do the same in order for both sides not to attack each other. When you press A, the selected country gets to see all your base. If you now select a unit on a side you are allied with and press A again it will break the alliance for BOTH sides.
It is possible to ally with a computer player in a multiplayer game of more than 2 players, but they never ally with you. They do seem to stop attacking you though. However, in Aftermath (and Counterstrike I think) the computer will still attack you regardless of alliances.

Grouping/ 
Create Team
Select a group of your own units and press ConTRoL and a number. All those units will now have that number in their selected box. Note that any unit can only ever be part of one group at any one time. See Selecting Team for use.
ALT
Force Move
Press and hold ALT and the cursor will become a move cursor. Useful to force a unit to move in that direction instead of, for instance, attacking whatever is currently standing there. Thanks to Matt for reminding me of this hotkey!

Selecting Team
If you have assigned a group to a number, pressing that number will immediately de-select any units you currently have selected and select all those units in the group number.
ALT+# 
(where # is a number 
between 1 and 9)
Viewing Team
Similar to selecting team, pressing ALT with a number will also centre the main view on the group you selected. Note if the selected units are spread out over the map then the view may not actually be on any of the units in the group.
CTRL+ALT
Escort
Select a group of your units and then press and hold CTRL and ALT. The cursor turns to a gold icon. Now clicking on another unit will make the group follow that unit wherever it goes. Useful for protecting Ore harvesters. Note this doesn't always work as well as you would like. If you make too many units escort they can get stuck and sometimes units just stop escorting for no apparent reason. Thanks to Shawli for reminding me of this hotkey!
F
Formation
When you have a group of units (see above) selected, pressing F will make them all move in formation and an F will appear in the selected boxes. Views differ on what this actually does. It is used in the Transport cheat (see bugs) and allegedly keeps the units in that group together as they move.
G
Guard Mode
Pressing G while any unit will select it to Guard mode. There is no visual indication of this. When in guard mode a unit is much more aggressive in defending when an enemy unit comes into sight, but this also makes it more susceptible to ambushes. Note Tanya cannot be put in Guard mode.
X
Scatter
Any units currently selected will move in a random direction when X is pressed. This is meant to get them out of the way of incoming projectiles, but only works well on small groups. This can also be used on helicopters to stop them from landing.
S
Stop
Any selected units will immediately stop whatever orders they are carrying out. Helicopters will land where they are, other aircraft will return to their airfield.
T
Repair
Pressing T will select the repair icon. Same as pressing the spanner on the sidebar.
H & Home
Home
Centre the main view on your primary Construction Yard.
N
Next Unit
Pressing N will select and view another unit on your site. Continued use will cycle through all the units in your army.
B
Last unit
Similar to N this selects the previous unit under your command.
E
Select All
This will select all of your units on the screen including Aircraft and Ore trucks.
SHIFT+Left Click
Add to selection
If you have a group of units selected and wish to add to it you can either deselect the entire group and re-group them all or press SHIFT while you click on another unit to add it to the group. This can be used to deselect units from a group too.
CTRL+Left Click
Force fire
Tell all currently selected units to fire at the position where the cursor is (and move to be nearby if necessary) regardless of what is in that square.
CTRL+F9 to F12
Bookmark
Remember the current position of the main screen
F9 to F12
View bookmark
Go to the bookmarked position which was made using CTRL+F# (see above)
Q
The 'Q' trick
This is a very annoying trick which I personally hate, but lots of people use it. Press and hold the Q key during this entire time: 
Select a group of units and tell them to fire at a target. Now tell them to move to a nearby position still in range of the target and then another position. The units will continue to fire while moving when you release the Q key. Note this often locks up your computer for a minute or more. The game continues but you cannot control anything.
Q (again!)
Waypoints
This is the intended way to use Q, but was never completely implemented. Select a group of units and press and hold Q, then tell them to move somewhere in a corner of the map for instance. Now keep pressing Q and tell them to move to another corner of the map. The units will first carry out their original order before moving to the second corner. Great for sneak attacks from behind. However, this only seems to work with ground units.
Up & Down Arrows
Scroll sidebar
Instead of clicking on the Up and Down arrows below the sidebar, use the up and down arrows to scroll faster.
U
Map view
Pressing U wil allow you to change the map view on the sidebar.
Y
Sell
Pressing Y will select the Sell icon. Same as pressing the $ on the sidebar.
ESCape
Menu
Pressing Escape will bring up the menu (same as pressing Options). Pressing it again will remove the options window.
Spacebar
Menu
Same as ESCape. Thanks to Matt for letting me know of this hotkey!
TAB
Move Sidebar
In DOS, pressing TAB will remove or replace the sidebar so that more of the playing area can be seen. However, in Windows the sidebar is permanent.
R
Resign
In a multiplayer game you can resign from the game by pressing R (same as choosing resign from the menu).
PrtSc
Print Screen
Pressing this key will copy a screenshot to the clipboard where you can edit it in Windows. The colours will be messed up though so see the FAQ for info on fixing this.
K
ScreenShot
NOT a Red Alert Key! This can be used in the Terrain editor to take a screenshot. The image is saved as a file in your Red Alert directory.
F1 to F8
Send Message
Press F1 in a multiplayer game to send a message to your opponent. Up to 7 opponents can be in a Red Alert Multiplayer game, so keys F1 to F7 allow you to send a message to each one. F8 sends the message to all other players.
SHIFT+#
Multiple Group
You can select a group by pressing it's number and then add another group to your selection by pressing SHIFT and the number of the second group. Thanks to THEGenius for this hotkey.
CTRL+ESCape
Minimise
Windows '95 (probably Win '98) only. A few people have pointed this out to me although really it's a Windows hotkey. Pressing CTRL+ESCape will activate the Start menu, and consequently minimise Red Alert if you currently have that open. You can use other Windows shortcuts if you leave them enabled such as CTRL+TAB et
